A FREE ferry ride from lower Manhattan to Staten Island, travels at all times of the day or night on the hour. this ferry may be crowded at times, but you can always go to the lower deck where you will have some privacy.

The Ferry ride takes about 40 minutes, goes by the Statue of Liberty and stops in Staten Island.

Once arrived in Staten Island you can exit the terminal take a right and keep on walking down the steps along side the Hudson river. Plenty of benches to sit down on and just relax, it's a very quiet place.

Really nice ride (about 20 min, not 40), and if its a good weather the walk along the water can be beautiful!
